I’m writing to convey my gratitude for suggesting that I consider replacing the factory installed shocks with the Elka stage 5 shocks on my 2015 MXZ XRS.
As you know I delayed installing the new Elka shocks for a whole season as I did not believe the Elka shocks would make a significant difference over the factory installed KYB Pro 40 shocks. Man was I wrong.
This fall I installed the Elka’s due to the frustration of not be able to adjust KYB shocks enough to allow for my riding style, constantly feeling that I was able to out ride the the suspension of this sled.
Once I had the Elka shocks tuned in, that feeling of out riding the suspension disappeared and was replaced with a wow factor. I now feel complete confidence in all riding conditions. No more harsh landings after hitting the big bumps or having to slow down on a rough section of trail. The suspension just soaks whatever the trail has to offer. I feel in complete control. These shocks even allowed me to get rid of 90% of the ski lift that I had learned to live with.
Having just returned from a saddle bag trip to Quebec where we experienced every type of condition possible, I can tell you I was the only person (also the oldest) who got off the sled at the end of the day with no stiffness or soreness. I attribute that to fact I was able to adjust the shocks to the changing trail conditions with more than enough adjustability to easily keep the suspension in a comfortable zone all week long.
I am considering a new MXZ XRS for next season but only if I can replace the factory shocks with Elka stage 5 shocks.
